Keeping Track of Me

As many of you know I have joined the traveling musical ensemble of Jews for Jesus know as the Liberated Wailing Wall.  We will be touring around the country and later overseas through March of 2010.  I wanted to show you a couple of ways to keep track of me.

The first is by looking at our tour schedule which is posted here.

The second is through a service I use called BrightKite.  I use BrightKite to log the cities that I visit.  You can see my profile here, and you also see where I last ‘checked in’ on the small map on the right.

I am hoping to add a few more ways for you to keep up with me, if you have any suggestions my ears are wide open.

Fear

I came across this passage in chapter 56 of Life of Pi

I must say a word about fear. It is life’s only tue opponent. Only fear can defeat life. It is a clever, treacherous adversary, how well I know. It has no decency, respects no law or convention, showsno mercy. It goes for your weakest spot, which it finds with unerring ease. It begins in your mind, always. One moment you are feeling calm, self-possessed, happy. Then fear, disguised in the garb of mild-mannered doubt, slips into your mind like a spy. Doubt meets disbelief and disbelief tries to push it out. But disbelief is a poorly armed foot soldier. Doubt does away with it with little trouble. You become anxious. Reason comes to do battle for you. You are reassured. Reason is fully equipped with the latest weapons and technology. But, to your amazement, despite superior tactics and a number of undeniable victories, reason is laid low. You feel yourself weakening, wavering. Your anxiety becomes dread.

Update of Summer Activities

This summer I have embarked, yet again, on an adventure doing ministry with youth.  I have been called to work with two different Jews for Jesus programs with which I have worked before, Camp Gilgal and Halutzim.

I was so pleased to return to the Camp Gilgal staff even if it did bring me to the middle of an Indian corn field! The Camp Gilgal experience offers a unique opportunity for these children to establish both their faith and their identity as Jewish Believers.  They are removed from their parents for twelve days and placed in an environment especially designed to foster and strengthen their relationships with our Creator. As a camp counselor I have a unique opportunity to impart wisdom and share my own experiences with these young boys about what it means to be a Jewish believer in Jesus. The time away from our every day experience afford us many opportunities to grow closer to each other and to God.

This month I will leave Illinois yet again but for an entirely different wilderness. I plan to brave the wilds of New York City. My role on this trip is to help lead a group of 9 young Jewish believers (ages 16-18) for two weeks of street evangelism beginning on July 13.  The name of our trip is Halutzim, which is Hebrew for “pioneers”, and is an appropriate title for the program, because it is designed to be an opportunity for these teens to pioneer a new part of their faith.  The group will learn to proclaim the truth to both Jews and Gentiles on the busy streets of New York City.  The trip will also be filled with many other experiences that will be new to most of the teens.  We will walk many historic neighborhoods, attended services, eat good Jewish food and cruise to Ellis Island.  I hope what leaves the greatest and lasting impact with them will be the experience of sharing the Gospel.  I want this trip to NYC to be a marker in their faith lives of the place where their faith became deeper and they first sensed a purpose for their lives with Yeshua.

I would love to take you with me on my adventures this summer. Actually, there is way you can go there with me and that is through your prayers and your gifts.  Please pray for me that God would use me effectively and protect me while I am in the big apple. In addition would please pray about supporting me financially? Your generosity will make an awesome impact in the lives of many people who need the Lord. If a financial donation is not possible, then I would love to have your support in prayer.  You may support me financially by sending a check (remembering to put my name on the memo line) to Jews for Jesus at:

60 Haight Street, San Francisco, CA 94102

or you can give online at www.JewsforJesus.org and typing my name in comment section. Each gift will receive a tax-deductible receipt.

And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep, for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.  The night is far spent, the day is at hand.  Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.  Romans 13:11-12

Thanks again for all of your Support,

Nathanial Jacobs
